Sex is not simply the differences between fixed categories, but also can be defined as a complex of its relationship, boundary, identification, and image. These are formed gradually via social procedures, and have also existed in a specifically historical situation. In addition, it is profoundly as well as frequently a contradictory way to model individual life. It can also gradually alter along with the historical resistance and vicissitude as well. This study set off on a statement of counterculture alleged by J. Milton Yinger. By means of Taiwanese underground press named “Post” and “Gril Friends” from 1996 to 2005, it disassembled the frame of sex consciousness condition, and adopted a discourse analysis and emerging issues analysis applied the idea of genealogy. Within the sex relations, not only did it seek for the essential values, countercultural differences and reiterations, but it also probed into the sex issue tagged on to the values system on the horizon. Therefore, this reserch reveals four significant purposes through the comparison of the critiques from the underground press and semi-structured interviews: the symbolic connection between “overstridingcross” and “turning (over)”, striving for rights with routinization and delicacy, self-expression toward career, and polarization of emotional relation. These will bring three values of life, possibly forming trends of future Taiwanese society: pursuing diversity, being self-democratic, and being self-exploring. These all demonstrate an idea of critical future, originated from countercultural studies. This research can also be referred as self-examiningintrospecting of minority groups, or feedbacks to personal future and social restructuring. It is also in a hope that this exploratory study could initiate the dawn of innovative values of Taiwanese society.
