藻類是一個天然且受歡迎的食物,特別是藍藻和綠藻類豐富的維他命和礦物質更被人們所熟知。杜莎藻是一種擁有亮紅色外觀的特殊藻類。本研究係針對杜莎藻的抗氧化、抗癌和延緩老化能力進行試驗。結果顯示,杜莎藻擁有與all-trans-β-carotene相近的抗氧化性。經由高效能液相層析可知,杜莎藻中的carotenoids包括all-trans-β-carotene、 9-cis-β-carotene、 α-carotene、 lutein和zeaxanthin,其中又以all-trans-β-carotene和9-cis-β-carotene含量最多。由細胞試驗可知,口腔麟狀皮癌細胞(KB細胞)之死亡隨著杜莎藻萃取物的添加劑量增加而提高。由流式細胞儀分析可知杜莎藻萃取物可誘發KB細胞凋亡,且隨劑量呈現正相關。此外,杜莎藻萃取物亦具有抑制KB細胞COX-2表現之效果。利用藍光(波長為450nm)照射誘使人類視網膜色素上皮細胞株(ARPE-19細胞)受損的試驗模式可知,杜莎藻萃取物具有修復人類眼球上皮細胞損害的功效。
Alga is a natural and popular food. People know that blue-green algae and green algae are rich in vitamins and minerals . Dunaliella salina is a bright red algae. This study was focused on the antioxidation, anti-cancer and anti-aging ability of Dunaliella salina . Results showed that antioxidant activity of Dunaliella salina was similar to all-trans-carotene. By the analysis of high performance liquid chromatography, Dunaliella salina was found containing all-trans-β-carotene, 9-cis-β-carotene, α- carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. All-trans-β-carotene and 9-cis-β-carotene was abundant in Dunaliella salina. Extract of Dunaliella salina caused apoptosis of Oral Squamous carcinoma cell (KB cell) and showed dose-depended manner. In addition, extract of Dunaliella salina also showed inhibition on the expression of COX-2. The blue light irradiation (wavelength of 450nm) model showed that human retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE-19 cells) was repaired by the extract of Dunaliella salina.
