異同之間:隱喻設計案例庫的建置

Between Similarity and Dissimilarity: Building A Case Base of Metaphor Design.

摘要


在產品概念發展階段,工業設計師經常透過搜尋與設計目標的產品屬性類 似的其它相關事物當作創作的靈感來源,同時也藉由比較所提設計方案和現有 產品的差異,來判斷此方案的創意程度高低。因此若能建立一個設計案例庫, 並提供設計目標和現有案例的異同性比較,或許可以幫助經驗較不豐富的設計 師以更有系統地方式進行創意來源搜尋和評價設計方案的創意程度高低。 本文蒐集 100 張具代表性的隱喻設計座椅當作現有案例,每一案例的產品 屬性包括45 個語意意象和69 個設計典範,相似性計算則採用歐式距離。使用 者介面的輸入選項包括設計目標所設定的語意意象和設計典範程度需求,而輸 出的資訊則包括具有一定程度的產品屬性相似性之案例,亦即含有此語意意象 或設計典範的設計結果,此案例庫的輸出除提供設計師靈感創意來源外,亦可 用來評估市面產品所運用的隱喻手法及產品所具有的創意程度。 研究結果在屬性語意意象的部分,案例庫所提供的刺激案例與相似性為較 低的;設計典範則因產品本身的所具有的結構與物理特徵,故與相對應刺激案 例與相似性則相對較高。當測試案例與案例庫內容的刺激案例的類別不一致 時,測試案例與刺激案例間的相關性仍然為高,顯示案例庫的應用並不因產品 類別相異而失去其可用性,當兩個產品在類別或屬性上完全相同時,也會因設 計師對每個屬性的詮釋或配重的比例不同而產生極大差異的設計結果。

At earlier stages of developing creative product concepts, industrial designer is often get inspiration sources by searching for existing design cases that attributes design target. Likewise they evaluate the differentiation of the product concepts by comparing the concepts with existing products. If there’s a design case base which helps the designer compare the design target and existing product, it may be useful for novice designers to search the creative sources and evaluate the creative concepts systematically. In this study, we collect 100 pairs of representative metaphor chair design as stimulate cases. The attributes of every case are 45 product semantics and 69 design paradigms. The similarity measurement of the case base to retrieve design cases includes Jaccard Coefficient. Product semantics and design paradigms of the design target are the input attribute options of user interface, We present the framework of a case base of chair design that can aid designer to seek the creative source by measuring the similarity and dissimilarity between the design target and design cases.Finally we find that semantic adjectives of attribute are low similarity;but design paradigms of attribute are high similarity. Because design paradigm are much more relative of the structure of product,but semantic adjectives are not. Besides,once the category of test case is different from the stimulate case,the relationship between of them still close. It means that the case base can be useful in any other category of design. Then,once the category and attributes are totally the same between 2 products,the result can still be much different for the design method used by designers.
