本研究探討聚乙烯接枝馬來酸酐(PE-g-MA),改質不同鹼化度的聚乙烯醇,期間探討改質過的聚乙烯醇(modified poly(vinyl alcohol), MPVA)的吸水率與抗有機溶劑性質。在吸水率試驗中發現,在PVA(BP05,鹼化度約88mole%)含量為60wt%的改質聚乙烯醇,八小時吸水率為6.62wt%;在PVA(BC05,鹼化度約74mole%)含量為50wt%的改質聚乙烯醇,八小時吸水率為6.72wt%。吸收鄰位-二甲苯率試驗中,PVA含量70wt%的MPVA(BP05)和PVA含量70wt%的MPVA(BC05)都具有良好的抗鄰位-二甲苯性,當PVA含量低於70wt%,表面的膨潤程度會明顯增加。在鄰位-二甲苯滲透試驗中發現PVA(BP05)含量70wt%時,14天平均滲透率為(0.42%/day)。改質聚乙烯醇的楊氏模數會隨著PVA含量增加而上升:PVA(BP05) 含30wt%為19.9MPa,PVA(BP05)含70wt%為44.7MPa,PVA(BC05)含30wt%為19.4MPa,PVA(BC05)含70wt%為162.7MPa。
In this study, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was modified with polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride. First, two type of PVA, BP05 with hydrolysis about 88 mole%, or BC05 with hydrolysis about 74 mole%, was blended and reacted with maleic anhydride polyethylene in a banbury mixer. The uptake of water or o-xylene was measured. It was found that the uptake of water is about 6.62wt% after 8 hours for the modified polymers with 60 wt% of PVA (BP05), and is 6.72wt% for the modified polymers with 50 wt% of PVA (BC05). The polymers with 70wt% of PVA show good resistance to o-xylene. O-xylene permeability of modified polymer with 70wt% of PVA (BP05) is about (0.42%/day) after 14 days. The tensile modulus of the modified PVA decreases with increasing of polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride. The Young's modulus is about 44.7 MPa for the polymers with 70wt% PVA (BP05), and 162.7 MPa for the polymers with 70wt% PVA (BC05).
