One of the most common and efficient method to keep sunshade and privacy simultaneously is to use venetian blind. The traditional venetian blind, however, does not have the sectional-tilting function to let sunshine go in while keeping privacy in the meantime. This thesis presents a mechanism design applying the idea of planetary gear train to provide three-different-type sectional-tilting arrangements for a venetian blind. This novel design can satisfy the required functions of a venetian blind, and also provide the functions of different combined sunshade and privacy for users. The detailed design of this novel design, including its 3D model, has been done in Solidworks software. The preliminary feasibility of this mechanism design has been confirmed by the dynamic simulation in Solidworks software.
