Reading ability is not only a very important index of the level of a nation’s people, but also the ability of life-time learning. Taipei City Education Bureau has conducted a series of reading activities for vocational high schools, and planned the year of 2011 as “the year of reading refinement.” The purpose of this study was to explore whether applying the PowerPoint to present the reading reports enhanced vocational high school students’ reading frequency, behaviors, and comprehension. The study was conducted through the method of quasi-experimental design and a total of 86 second grade students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Auto Mechanics in Vocational High School in Taipei City participated in the study. Students from the Department of Electrical Engineering were assigned to be in the experimental group. They used PowerPoint to present their reading reports. Students from the Department of Auto Mechanics were assigned to be in the control group. They used the traditional way to write their reading reports. The experiment lasted for a total of six weeks. Then, two groups of students did the post-test by completing a reading behavior scale and a reading comprehension test after a week. The results in this study are as follows: 1. Reading frequency of the experimental group, those who used PowerPoint to present their reading reports, was better than the ones in the control group who wrote reading reports in the traditional way. This showed that using PowerPoint to present their reading reports was able to increase students’ reading frequency. 2. Experimental group students’ reading behavior was better than that of the control groups’. This showed that using PowerPoint to present their reading reports was able to increase students’ reading behavior. 3. Experimental group students’ reading comprehension was better than that of the control groups’. This showed that using PowerPoint to present their reading reports was able to increase students’ reading comprehension.
