Stroke constitutes a formidable burden of disability for patients, their careers and the community in general and is the third leading cause of death worldwide. In the Mongolia, stroke incidence has increased steadily. The average annual rates of stroke in Mongolia are 296/100,000 (males 312/100,000; females 262/100,000). It is now recognized that the way to well organize acute and rehabilitation stroke services can have an important effect on patient outcome and this has generated a major impetus for change in these services. Although continuity of services post discharge from acute care and/or rehabilitation following a stroke has commanded attention, there has not been an equivalent research focused on the needs of those with stroke in rehabilitation center. Among the health community, issues of the quality of rehabilitation center also have arisen and indicators of the quality of rehabilitative care have been proposed.
