無線網狀網路路由設計與效能評估

近年來無線網路是相當熱門的應用，而無線網狀網路（Wireless Mesh Network， WMN）的優點就是能夠在增加覆蓋範圍的同時，又能節省下許多建置時所需要的花費。AP 與AP 間以ad hoc模式互通，將使用者資料繞送到與有線網路相連的外部閘道器AP（external gateway）。AP 與AP 間所使用的路由協定設計，被稱為無線網狀網路路由協定（wireless mesh routing，WMR）。本論文的目的在設計WMR，除了提供基本資料繞送的能力外，當系統提供多個外部閘道器AP時，還能做到負載平衡（load balancing），避免所有資料都透過單一外部閘道器AP傳送，因此降低整體系統傳輸量。

Over the years wireless network has been a hot topic and is being widely adopted in many applications. Among the varieties of wireless network, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) expands the coverage area while in the same time reduce the deployment cost. The communication between access points is in ad hoc mode and user data is relayed among access points to the final external gateway. The routing protocols used between access points are called wireless mesh routing, WMR. The main purpose of this paper is to propose a new wireless mesh routing protocol. Besides basic routing capability, the proposed WMR protocol is designed to provide outbound traffic load balance over multiple external gateways. Because of the load balance features, the traffic will never be routed via any single gateways thus the total system throughput can be maximized.
