現實世界中,乩示醫療的案例比比皆是,然而現代科學當道,乩示醫療多少被視為「迷信」,乩示醫療在我們的歷史文化中源遠流長,並沒有因為西醫與科學的興盛而消失,反而在世界各地興起另類醫療的潮流,加上研究者因本身特殊經驗而開啟了與乩示醫療的緣份,因緣際會中親身體驗了乩示醫療的過程及成為林老師的助手,基於研究者對乩示醫療的好奇與本身經歷一段負面印象的改觀,所以期待將靈乩的乩示醫療的面貌呈現出來,因此本文以林老師的乩示醫療為例,採取參與觀察法、深度訪談法和文獻分析法,探究林老師治療求助者的乩示醫療的運作過程與相關社會文化因素。本研究結論為:一、靈乩是一種新興人神互動的模式,社會大眾常將靈乩與童乩混淆;二、乩示醫療的運作模式多元化,期待能與現行醫學相輔相成;三、求助者多是在不得已的情況下來求助,而後也成為靈乩靈修;四、林老師與求助者都經歷一段認同歷程的改變,改變的關鍵在「親身經歷」;五、社會對乩示醫療存有圈內、圈外(inside、outside)不同觀感;六、社會觀感受儒家思想、科學、媒體、親身經歷、新時代潮流與政府政策影響;七、乩示醫療對現代社會有貢獻與意義。
In the world of reality, folk therapy of spirit writing is still popular today. Notwithstanding, such therapy is deemed “superstition” to some extent in an era when technology dominates. Folk therapy of spirit writing has run a long history in Chinese history and culture that such alternative therapy has never faded over time even the Western medicine and science dominates, but has given rise to global trends. As the fate connected with folk therapy of spirit writing was unsealed by the researcher’s personal and special experience, researcher of this study personally experienced the process of such folk therapy by chance and went on to become Master Lin’s assistant. In view of the researcher’s curiosity over the folk therapy of spirit writing and personal experience of a course of transforming the negative impression about this therapy, this paper hopes to present the aspects of folk therapy of spirit writing practiced by spiritual mediums. Taking Master Lin’s folk therapy of spiritual writing as a case study and adopting participant observation, in-depth interview and literature review as research methods, this study aims to delve into Master Lin’s operation processes for folk therapy of spirit writing offered to patients seeking help and to probe social and cultural factors. Seven conclusions were drawn from this research. (1) The spiritual medium is one new pattern of interaction between the gods and man, and the public is always confused with spiritual medium and spirit medium; (2) The operation model for folk therapy of spirit writing is diversified that such therapy and current medicine are expected to supplement each other; (3) Most of those seeking treatment have no alternative but seek the folk therapy, and they later have become engaged in spiritual practice; (4) Both Master Lin and those seeking assistance experienced the changes of identity course, and “personal experience” is the key to changes; (5) It shows different inside and outside perspectives on folk therapy of spirit writing in the society; (6) Confucianism, science, media, personal experience, new trends of the times and government policy have influence on social perspective, and (7) folk therapy of spirit writing has made meaningful contributions to the modern society.
