摘要

布瑞頓（Benjamin Britten, 1913-1976）為20世紀中期最多產的英國作曲家，其大提琴組曲為二十世紀重要的無伴奏曲目之一。第二號大提琴組曲，為布瑞頓在亞洲行之後的作品。此曲的創作手法與東方戲劇哲學思想有許多巧妙的相似處。例如日本的能劇（Noh）、淨瑠璃，或是印度的民間音樂。本文分別透過創作背景（作曲家、提獻者）及創作素材兩大方面，來探討曲中所運用到的東方的元素和背後的意象，冀望能為大提琴演奏者帶來不同的視野。
本文共分六大章節。第一章為緒論，概述本文主題之方向及研究目的；第二章為作曲家生平及其為提獻者羅斯托波維奇（Mstislav Rostropovich, 1927-2007）所創作的幾部大提琴作品簡要；第三章將針對曲子本身所使用到的素材及技巧等做更詳細的討論；第四章則是剖析樂曲中的架構和所呈現的東方元素；第五章就演奏詮釋上做精要說明；最後一章將總結各章之重點，提供日後大提琴演奏者對此曲演奏詮釋上的參考建議。
