一個以「臺灣」為主體的敘事:國立臺灣歷史博物館的歷史意識

摘要


國立臺灣歷史博物館於2011年開館,其常設展斯土斯民:臺灣的故事,為現今唯一處理臺灣歷史的國家級展覽,對於當代社會的歷史意識具有相當的研究價值。本論文以國立臺灣歷史博物館的常設展覽為開端,發現展覽雖以臺灣為名,但卻沒有清楚的主體論述,為了釐清此現象,本文試從百年來臺灣歷史的文本出發,解讀各文本間的歷史意識,以及其表徵的意涵。透過這些梳理可發現,臺灣歷史不斷地被重新塑造、解讀,以迎合各時期統治者的需要。然而隨著時代變遷,臺灣人民開始重視自身歷史,過去以他者為主體的歷史詮釋逐漸受到質疑,做為後殖民時期的臺史博也在此期望下誕生。然而由於社會上對於「臺灣」一詞的差異認知,使博物館籌備過程不斷受到挑戰,最終,博物館捨棄建構國家認同,轉向關注常民生活,此舉雖帶給觀者全新的歷史敘述,但在國家定位未明的情況下,反而使得展覽的主體不斷流動,一方面認可臺灣文化為自身文化,另一方面卻又未脫離漢人開發史觀,也無法以國家的架構來討論臺灣歷史。

The permanent exhibition “Our Land, Our People: The Story of Taiwan” of National Museum of Taiwan History which opened in 2011 is the only national one about Taiwan history so It’s very important case study about contemporary historical consciousness in Taiwan. This thesis starts with the permanent exhibition and finds that although the permanent exhibition named "The Story of Taiwan", there are many different definition of "Taiwan". In order to clarify it, this study through analysis of texts over the past hundred years finds that every dominator construct history for shaping national identity. With “The history of Taiwan”becoming a popular issue, people start questioning the historical interpretation. At the same time, the preparation of National Museum of Taiwan History was begun in 1992. However, people are not on the same page about definition of "Taiwan" and it result in many controversy during preparation of museum. Finally, museum take "people" and "land" as historical subjectivity, and it's a very special narrative, but exhibition evade defining country, it make visitor confused about what Taiwan is. In fact, the uncertainty about “Taiwan” is not only in the permanent exhibition but in Taiwan society, therefore all Taiwanese should think about this issue.
