以資料探勘來探討資管系學生學習成效之影響因素─以某私立大學為例

摘要


國內大學資訊相關科系及學生數屢創新高,造成資訊人力市場供過於求,畢業生就業困難,學系也相對面臨激烈競爭,甚至生存的困境。學校教育的最基本目標是提升學生學習成效,有鑒於過去相關研究大都僅從少數個別影響因素探討,恐仍無法看到影響因素之全貌,難以提供後段學系教學實質的助益。再者,企業運用資料探勘於消費者行為之研究日漸廣泛,也獲得不錯的成果。本質上,學生即是學校教育長年(至少4年)的消費者,而這個教育企業也擁有廣大的學生資料,然少有運用這些資料來探勘學生學習行為的作法,殊為可惜。 為了更全面的探討影響資管學生學習成效的因素,本研究選定某私立大學資管系大學部的學生1-4年級16個班級為對象,收集19門核心課程的成績作為學習成效的指標;透過問卷,調查個人之先前電腦經驗、個人興趣、動機及學習策略與行為、父母社經地位、大學入學管道及高中就讀類組等資料;另調查學生觀察的教學現況與作法及其知覺影響學習成效之程度,以作為教學策略的參考。問卷總計回收374份,運用包括敘述性、信效度、ANOVA、相關性、迴歸等統計分析與尋找各類趨勢型態探勘方法,來驗證相關假設。 研究結果顯示大學入學成績、學習動機、學習策略、個人學習興趣等對學習成效有顯著影響;不同性別、家長社經地位及高中就讀類組對學習成效也有顯著差異。另外也整理出學生對教學現況適應程度及其知覺影響學習之矩陣,這些結果不但可以提供該校(乃至其他同質校系)招生與教學策略指引,也可以作為後續資管教育研究之參考。

IS (Information Systems) collegiate institutes and their students have both recently reached a record high number in Taiwan. While their graduates are facing fierce competition in the job market, some institutes, especially private ones, are challenged with problems, such as lower enrollment number and quality and teaching inefficacy. One solution to these problems is to understand the affecting factors of the students’ learning performance so that effective recruiting and teaching strategies can be set up accordingly. However, there is still insufficient understanding especially in this context. This study attempted to explore, in a more comprehensive way, the factors that affect IS students’ performance and designated 19 core courses as the performance index. Potential factors such as individual entrance exam scores, pre-college computer literacy, interest, motivation, and learning strategies were tested for their influence level on the performance index. Other personal statistics such as gender, parental status, learning background in high school were served to test the difference of learning performance. After developing the operational definition of constructs such as motivation and learning strategies, a questionnaire was designed and a survey was conducted to the students in one IS department of private university, and total 374 records were collected successfully. Data analysis employed methods such as ANOVA, correlation, regression to test the reliability, validity, and related hypothesis. The analysis result has shown a significant performance difference among different student groups. For example, females and students with higher social status parents outperform the other counterparts. As the affecting factors, no single one plays a significant influence level. Rather, student’s interest and motivation have more notable effects than other factors. Future study should continue to include more factors such as teaching quality to gain a more complete view on this issue. The result can provide a useful guidance for IS academic and higher education.
