Self-assembly of achiral banana-shaped liquid crystalline molecules resulted in hierarchical superstructures with helical sense; suggesting the existence of hierarchical chirality by self-assembling achiral bent-core molecules. Conformational chirality was induced with respect to molecular regularity (i.e., induced twist conformation with bent-core structure). Consequently, the helical superstructure from bent-core molecules with self-assembly in solution is the first example to express the chiral information transfer mechanism of achiral banana-shaped molecules from molecular regularity to hierarchical chirality.
