第一台網路攝影機-IP Camera於1996年出現至今已超過10年歷史。十年來由於眾多廠商競相投入研發製造，產品日新月異功能愈來愈完整。但經過多年的努力卻依然只能侷促於利基市場，難以超越數位錄影機(DVR)。本文嘗試從產業界的觀點檢討箇中原因。希望跳脫偏重技術發展的思維，選擇合適的產業角色。將數位攝影機重新定位為視訊監控服務產業的重要成員，突破整體環境的制約，以寬廣的思維創造新的發展機會。

Abstract
First network camera, called IP Camera, appeared in 1996. Because of many manufacturers investing in R&D and manufacturing, IP Camera’s function becomes increasingly complete. But after years of effort, IP Camera survives in niche markets, and still is hard to surpass its’ competitor -digital video recorder (DVR). This article attempts to review the reasons from the industries’ viewpoint. Reposition itself as a key component in the video surveillance service industry to break the overall environmental constraints and to create new opportunities for development with broader though.
