日治時期臺灣溫泉建築之研究

摘要

論 文 摘 要

本論文主要是以日治時期臺灣溫泉建築為研究對象，蒐集與整理全面性的相關基礎資料，並以日本殖民臺灣五十年（1895-1945）中對於溫泉資源的開發與利用進行初探。文中在建構臺灣地區溫泉地的發展與演變歷史，探討臺灣溫泉地形成的背景及因素和各溫泉建築類型的特色與時代性意義，試圖瞭解溫泉文化在臺灣所扮演的角色及影響。本論的內容簡述如下：

第一章緒論，主要論述研究動機、研究方法，以及概述日治時期臺灣的溫泉建築的全面性發展脈絡。

第二章溫泉文化與溫泉利用，主要在探討西方及中國溫泉資源的發展利用、日本本土溫泉文化的發展過程與特質，及日治初期，殖民地臺灣溫泉在日軍軍事需求下，所發展出的病院、療養所等醫療設施的興建背景與建築特色。

第三章殖民政策下的溫泉相關設施，主要論述臺灣殖民地政策與溫泉建築建設發展的關係。如探討在衛生政策下所發展建設的溫泉公共浴場，和在國民休憩旅遊觀念推展下所興起的俱樂部、旅館、料理屋和別莊等娛樂性設施，其具有的時代性意義和建築特色，另探究溫泉地內相關公共設施與溫泉地形成的關係。

第四章結論，由本研究論文得知日治時期臺灣溫泉地內溫泉建築的發展趨勢。

Abstract

Study of this thesis focuses mainly on the Taiwan hot spring architecture over the Japanese ruling period. Taken from the fifty years (1895-1945) during which Taiwan was a Japanese colony, we are to collect and put in order the relevant information, and further, to conduct a comprehensive and preliminary analysis on the exploitation of the hot spring resources. Indeed, the main idea of this study is to frame the development and evolution of the hot spring sites within the Taiwan area, and to investigate the background and factors of the formation of the Taiwan hot spring sites and the characteristics and significance of various hot spring architectural forms in Taiwan. And with all the conditions put together, we attempt to look into the influence and the role that the hot spring has played in Taiwan. Content of this thesis is summarized as follows:

Chapter 1 Introduction: primarily discusses the motive and methods for research, and to outline the comprehensive sequence of ideas concerning the Taiwan hot spring architecture over the Japanese ruling period.

Chapter 2 Hot Spring Culture and Hot Spring Exploitation: mainly investigates the exploitation of the western and the Chinese hot spring resources, and the development and characteristics of the domestic hot spring culture in Japan. Moreover, we would like to know, that under the Japanese military demand, how the construction background and the architectural characteristics of various medical facilities such as hospitals and sanatoriums were evolved from the Taiwan hot spring sites during the early Japanese ruling period.

Chapter 3 Relevant Hot Spring Facilities under the Colonization Policies: primarily deals with the relationship between the Taiwan colonization policies and the development of the hot spring architecture. One of the topics is about the development of the hot spring bathhouses constructed based upon the hygienic policies and the construction of various recreational facilities such as clubs, hotels, restaurants and country villas that were promoted under the consideration for civil leisure. Likewise, the significance and characteristics of the hot spring architectural forms in Taiwan will be discussed at this point. Another topic is about the relationship between the relative public facilities within the hot spring sites and the formation of the hot spring sites.

Chapter 4 Conclusion: through the thesis, we are to have a thorough idea of the course of development regarding the hot spring architecture constructed on the Taiwan hot spring sites over the Japanese ruling period.
