Abstract Spatial meaning is contingent on human beings. The construction and presentation of space vary with people’s thinking image and the fads of the times. The essence of a local museum’s spatial design has changed from passive exhibition to active participation and communication. Hence, in addition to the display of objects, the spatial design of a local museum needs to take into consideration of the interaction between the visitors and the environment. The Silk Education of this thesis Museum, located in DA-HU Agricultural & Industrial Vocational High School, is a local education museum. In this high school, there is another museum, built in 1998, with traditional exhibition function. This museum keeps the school’s silk education resources and serves as the place for the teaching of nature ecology. In view of the symbiosis relationship between the school’s silk education and the local silk productional development in the past, this project is based on the idea of an ecomuseum to provide the spatial design for the Silk Education Museum. Under the primary consideration of the overall local development, the spatial design incorporates the outside appearance of the building, the interior design and the interaction between the museum and the local environment. By using the slogan “DA-HU new silk road”, this project integrates the concept of a silk road and the design of an education museum, and the final objective is to design a museum district which can contribute to the overall local development and the development of the school. At the beginning stage, the project focuses on the design of an education museum with the functions of promoting the silk industry in Dahu, providing multi-functional ecology education and serving as the communication platform between the school and the community. Hopefully, this project is contributory to the development of the Dahu area, the school and the museum.
