技術商業化歷程之個案研究

摘要


台灣申請專利件數逐年增加,但將發明成功上市的比例卻只有0.3%,原因在於許多公司將技術申請專利後仍無法成功轉化為具有市場價值的產品而導致失敗的結果。而推動技術商業化需要依循一定的過程與階段,途中需要耗費大量資金並且同時需要與各方人員合作及溝通,讓技術與市場相互結合,所以如何推動技術商業化已是企業必須具備的重要能力之一。因此,本研究選取在技術商業化過程中較完整且成功的案例來進行探討與分析,以全錄的靜電複印術商業化之個案與德州儀器公司的單石概念商業化之個案為對象,期盼由個案研究之方式與過去文獻所提出的完整技術商業化流程做相互比較,觀察技術商業化各個階段循環的方式並得出產生階段返回的原因。此外,藉由分析事件以得到事件因果關係。最後,再比較分析雙個案在操作方法間有何異同,希望給予企業或發明者在進行技術商業化的一些指導方針。 在技術商業化的過程中一共會涵蓋五個階段,分別為構想階段、孵化階段、示範階段、推廣階段及持續商業化。研究結果顯示,在技術商業化的歷程中,會因為回應外在環境威脅、資源條件的多寡、協助決策進行或是為了補強上一階段的執行事項而經歷返回的過程。此外,技術概念的構思、實驗、製程、展示及推廣等執行事項間是具有因果關係及效果關係。最後,產業的變動速度、面對新產品的態度保守與否、發明者過去的背景與資源多寡以及新產品發明之屬性將會影響執行事項下的操作方法。

Patent application issues have been increased in Taiwan; however, the invention of being listed on market only 0.3% is successful. The failure of many companies is due to they’re unable to transform products into high market value merchandises after they applied the patent. To promote technological commercialization, it needs to follow a certain process. During the period, it also costs a lot of capital and human resource. Therefore, how to put technology and market value together and then promote it into commercialization has become an important issue. In this study, I selected much more complete and successful cases to analyze. This study used electrostatic copying Xerox case and the monolithic concept of the Texas Instruments case to do the comparison. Through this method, I combined the relative references and technology commercialization process to analyze data and observed the results. In addition, I analyzed events to get the causes and effects respectively. Finally, I compared the similarities and differences between these two cases. The contribution of this study was to provide more useful directions for companies to run their technology commercialization model. The process of technology commercialization covers five stages, Imaging, Incubating,Demonstrating,Promoting and Sustaining.The result shown that in order to response the threat of external environment, the amount of resources and assisting decision-making of technology commercialization, or stronger the previous process then the process would return itself for modification. Furthermore, technical concepts, creations, experiments, processes, displays and promotion do matters between the causes and effects. Finally, the changes in the industry, the conservative attitudes toward new merchandises, the inventors’ background as well as available resources would affect the operation intensively.
