Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the learning effects of picture book instruction on promoting sex education toward three junior high school students with intellectual disabilities. A multiple-probe across subjects design was used, and the independent variable was picture book instruction, whereas the dependent variable was students’learning effects. The results showed that, after receiving picture book instruction, three students’ knowledge about sex issues had been improved. It stated that picture book instruction did improve the learning effects of students, and it lasted. The study also provided suggestions and reference directions to special educators while carrying on teaching.
