The selection of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system for a building is a challenging task due to its uncertainties, subjectivities, multi-criteria, and multi-alternatives involved. Decision makers have to make trade-off among those factors to select a suitable solution. The main objective of this study is to select HVAC systems for buildings by using fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method. In this study, multi-criteria and multi-alternatives for selecting HVAC are defined by experts. The fuzzy MCDM method is used to rank the generalized fuzzy numbers, and the generalized fuzzy numbers are used to describe the expert’s judgments for all criteria and alternatives. The results of this study provide a straightforward solution for decision makers when selecting a HVAC system. Keywords: Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, Fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (MCDM)
