Schools are the main group of the programs in an environmental learning center. The study is to probe into how teachers utilize the activities and resources at Guandu Nature Park as well as what teachers’ needs; suggestions for promotion are also made. The result may help improve the future management of Guandu Nature Park with the hope that more teachers will be willing to bring their students there regarding outdoor environmental education. The park in the end can gain profit as well as become more distinguished. This study used survey research method to survey the teachers who carried out outdoor environmental education at Guandu Nature Park from the year 2003 to 2006.Questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. Through systematic random sampling, 122 teachers were selected and surveyed; 93 questionnaires were retrieved. The retrieving rate is 76%. The major findings are summarized as below. The teachers expected Guandu Nature Park not only offer environmental programs integrated with school curriculum but also increase the varieties of programs to raise learning outcomes. A professional consulting platform and teacher workshops are suggested for teachers to exchange opinions and experiences. The materials of nature and humanities can help develop diversified environmental learning programs suitable for teachers. As for the schools, the teachers expected school administrators can provide teachers with more diversified learning environment, help teachers to grow up, let teachers bring their creativeness into full play, give teachers opportunities to take part in pre-service training, on-the-job training and outdoor investigation, and even set up reward mechanisms. As regards to the education authorities, the Department of Economic Development of the Taipei City Government, the Department of Education of the Taipei City Government and Guandu Nature Park are suggested to establish a communication platform. If the Department of Education of the Taipei City Government can send an official document to all the schools indicating that Guandu Nature Park is designated as an outdoor environmental education site, the beauty and importance of wetland will definitely be valued and recognized more. Students in Taipei thus can know more about wetland ecology and the development history of Taipei basin. Future research suggestions include researching the needs of elementary school teachers in Taipei, the teachers’ will of revisiting, the using rate of Guandu Nature Park by teachers who have participated workshops in Guandu, and the needs of students.
