「Hoop Dreams」－A NBA Challenging Story of Two Basketball Players from Taiwan

摘要

目前國內籃球面臨賽事分級不清、高中大學籃球教育銜接不足等問題，導致「學生球員」現象之產生。也因為目前臺灣籃球環境不佳，SBL也尚未邁入職業化，有鑑於國內諸多現況，部分優秀球員選擇向外發展、尋求舞台，追逐自己的籃球夢。本研究從臺灣籃球員逐夢背景切入，探討兩位優秀選手努力追逐夢想的歷程故事，以期了解優秀學生籃球員出國逐夢之背景因素、優秀學生籃球員出國逐夢之歷程挑戰，與兩位優秀學生籃球員出國逐夢之省思等，接著利用參與觀察法蒐集第一手資料，再與吳岱豪與張宗憲兩位研究對象進行深度訪談，側寫優秀籃球員在尋求進入NBA的經驗歷程。研究結果發現，優秀學生籃球員逐夢背景因素，並非國內籃球環境不佳，挑戰自我極限才是促使他們勇敢追夢的主因；優秀學生籃球員逐夢之歷程挑戰，語言隔閡與經濟因素為最大考驗，導致課業與生活上的困境，預想的體能條件差距並沒有想像的大；兩位優秀學生籃球員出國逐夢之省思，發現兩人在家庭背景、求學時期、出國時機與未來發展等四大面向上，有明顯的差異，也是兩人在逐夢路上擁有不同遭遇的主要因素。以上發現，以期提供運動相關單位與人士參考。

The purposes of this research is to narrate a NBA challenging story of two talented basketball players from Taiwan, and try to realize factors, progress and review of talented student players who go abroad to beyond self limit. The participants of this research are Wu, Tai-Hao and Chang Tsung-Hsien. Wu is one of the best power-forward in Asia. Chang is an exchange student in BYU-Hawaii with 4 years basketball-scholarship. This research is a case study by using In-depth interview, participant observation as methods to realize more situation that Wu and Chang who face challenges and difficulties. The finding of this research is that, Wu and Chang make up their mind to chase their hoop dreams; they just want to challenge themselves and realize what they got. Language barriers and economic problems are the biggest stones on road of dreams chasing. The reviews of these two warriors are four different parts, e.g. background of family, studying process, opportunity of going abroad, future potential. These four conditions are the main point that they face diverse difficulties on the road of dream chasing. Finally, some opinions and recommendations are proposed as a reference to the authority.
