國中學生對英語課的詮釋－ㄧ個班級的民族誌研究

摘要

本研究運用民族誌的方法，瞭解我國國中學生如何詮釋英語課。學生對於學校的課程，有其獨特的看法，他們將課程分類為「輕鬆的」、「背的」和「理解的」課。英語課是屬於「背的」，因為它不僅單字、片語、句子要背，甚至有時候課文也要背，還有文法，雖然要老師講解，懂了之後規則也是要背的，因此，英語是「背的」課。
學生也會對同學加以分類，他們自己心目中有一個衡量的標準，他們會根據同學的成績、能力和態度將同學分為「變態型」、「正常型」和「廢物型」。
「廢物型」的同學「沒救」的部分在「單字」，因為大部分單字死背、學不會，其它的學習內容就跟著學不來，只好放棄；而「正常型」學生的「沒救」的部分在「片語」與「句子」，「片語」瑣碎不容易記憶，即使勉強記憶，「句子」，也有困擾，因此，常常在「片語」與「句子」的地方停住，無法繼續學習。「變態型」的同學在「文法」學不會，文法複雜，且中英文差異頗大，學生在學習上無法掌控。
國中學生對於學校的課程和同儕，有其獨特的看法與分類，也知道自己在學習上的困境，但是否有能力克服這些困境，除了自己的決心與毅力之外，全靠週遭人、事、物的牽引，尤其是家長的引導。本研究顯示，不同社會階級的家長因為教育價值觀、對子女的教育態度與期望、指導學生課業的能力不同，對學生的英語學習產生不同的影響。

Ethnography methodology is conducted to investigate the interpretation of English classes by students in junior high school. Students in the school curriculum, with its unique view of their courses will be classified as "easy", "recitation" and "understanding" classes. English is a recitation class, as it not only words, phrases, sentences to be recited, and even sometimes the grammar rules have to carry.
Students will be classified and divided into "metamorphosis type", "normal" and "waste-type." by their performance, capacities and attitudes. Students in the school curriculum are also aware of their blind spots in the study. The ability to overcome these blind spots, in addition to their own determination and perseverance, is entirely around people and things of the lead. Parents, teachers, students in the learning process of students plays a very important role.

This research was shown that English curriculum annotation of students was affected by the social culture. It was formed gradually under the interaction with people, things and substances. Among them, the affect of parents is the most important. Social level of parents affects point of view of education value, attitude and achievement in English learning.
