文本的再詮釋－書籍美術作為一種閱讀經驗的表述

摘要

收錄的十三件作品皆為書籍美術委託案。工作過程中不免涉及主（作者卅文本）客（美術卅讀者）位置的變動及詮釋權力的交涉，但客觀的止於感官經驗的界限因人而異，合宜統一的敘事其實是個難以企及的幻象。作為一主動積極的讀者，與文本的關係該是「多重反射」（multiple reflection）的相映狀態，無限反覆導致無窮後退閱讀的空間如是展開。
我以面對文本時位置的移轉說明製作原由。美術作為形式（form）表現內容成為個人閱讀經驗的陳述，純粹造型地視覺陳述。這是一場阿基里斯（Achilles）與烏龜的永恆賽跑，我繼續工作，仍在思考。

The thirteen books included in this thesis are all cases entrusted by the authors at the outset; however, the working process involves a constant negotiation of power in terms of a shifting sense of self-positioning as well as an interpretative freedom of the work. The emotional understanding of the work always differs from individual to individual; hence an appropriate, unified narrative is, in effect, an unattainable illusion. As an active reader, I would argue, the relationship with the text is supposed to be in a state of “multiple reflection,” infinitely reiterating, recurring and returning to a boundlessly receding space where reading is free from boundaries and full of possibilities.
Through this thesis, I endeavor to lay bare my conceptual work behind each book design; simply put, my art and design acts as an expressive form of an emotional understanding of the contents of books as well as a personal narrative of reading experiences, which leads to a tangible, visual demonstration of my response to the work. This is an endless race between Achilles and the tortoise: I go on working, still musing…
