This thesis analyzes distribution of the plasmasphere vertical total electron content (VTEC) using Precise Orbit Determination (POD) antennas onboard the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC (F3/C) satellites. We used Standard Plasmasphere - Ionosphere Model (SPIM) to investigate the boundary between the ionosphere and the plasmasphere and concluded that the boundary is about 2000km above the ground. We also employed the TaiWan Ionospheric Model (TWIM) to remove the TEC parts (<~ 2000km). Based on the VTEC data after correction, we discovered that there is no apparent diurnal variation of VTEC in the plasmasphere, whose magnitude is far less than that of the ionosphere. We can further conclude that the characteristic of the plasmaspheric VTEC distribution is about 4-6 TECU in geographic mid-latitude (<60゚) and is about 2 TECU in the rest of high-latitude region.
