國中女教師身體的看與被看-服裝的作用與規範

摘要


本研究意圖探討現今國中女性教師的圖像,以及瞭解國中女性教師如何透過服裝塑造不同形象以及形象背後隱藏的關於女性特質的身體規訓。透過質化的研究方法,選擇十三位國中女性教師作為研究對象,瞭解國中女性教師在學校場域裡如何選擇自我形象並與重要他者互動的過程,檢視國中女性教師身上所具有的父權社會與師範教育下的女性特質,這樣長期規訓下帶給她們怎樣的自我與教育觀點,及其之後的形象選擇與行動。 本研究發現,女教師在學校場域中最常以正式得體、時髦流行、舒適方便為自我形象呈現。形象考慮的因素有學生、學校文化、同事以及家長和工作內容差異而選擇不同形象交互運用,而國中女性教師為何選擇這樣的形象是因工作性質處於被眾人觀看的位置,除了專業技巧之外,女教師的儀表也常被放大檢視,故女教師有維持女教師形象的需求與壓力。

This study intended to explore the images of female teachers in junior high school, and the understanding of female teachers in this field through the garments which shaped the image and the discipline of feminity that influenes their body image. Through the method of qualitative research, 13 female teachers were selected as the research individuals to understand how they chose the self-image and how they interacted with significant others. The study also aimed to understand how these female teachers in this field dealt with this discipline in the patriarchal society and teacher education. Furthermore, the study was to uncover their own self-cognition and their viewpoints of education in such a long-term discipline, as well as the image and action they chose afterward. This study found that female teachers in the school field were mostly in official, fashionable and comfortable dressing as their self-image presentation. The self-image presentation was based on students, school culture, colleagues, students’s parents, and their different roles at school. The reason they chose their presentation of image is that the nature of teacher’s job is located in everyone’s obserration. In addition to the professional skills, female teachers’ appearance often draws more attention. Thus, the female teachers are under the pressure and the need to maintain the image of female teachers.
