The Department of Statistics' research indicated that in Taiwan, the information technology industry created more than $NT 210 billion each year. The healthcare industry, which is similar to other industries, relies heavily on the information technology to create its value. However, due to the change of the great environment and health insurance regulation, information system employees at the hospitals are facing the same pressure resulted from the rapidly changing technology as those information system employees who work in other industries. However, despite its importance, few existing literatures have investigated the effects of the pressure may have on these IS employees, and how their quit intention may be stimulated by this pressure. The current study was designed to explore the relationships between the pressure, burnout, job satisfaction, and how these factors may influence the IS employees’ job performance and quit intention. This study has interviewed 122 IS employees working in healthcare and other industries. Findings indicated that the pressure significantly influenced the job satisfaction and burnout, which also produced a negative effect on the job performance. Moreover, IS employee’s job satisfaction also increased their quit intention. Notably, the pressure did not directly shape their job performance. Managerial implications were proposed accordingly.
