We specifically look at the percentage of female directors in the boardroom and female supervisors in the boardroom, and the impact on bank performance like return on assets, return on equity and Tobin’s Q. We use regression analysis for a sample of 26 listed banks for 11 years (2005-2015). We delineate the pre-financial crisis to be the years from 2005 to 2006, and during financial crisis from 2007 to 2009, and post-financial crisis from 2010 to 2015. Our findings pointed out a few more points. First, female supervisors will increase the dividend payout ratio_CASH because more gender diversity may bring about better monitoring for the board in Taiwan banking industry. Second, female directors will improve bank corporate governance and bring collaborative leadership style to the boardroom during the financial crisis in Taiwan banking industry. Third, having more than three female directors on the board is positive during the financial crisis for the banking industry in Taiwan. On the other hand, for the full period of our sample, female supervisors will decline Tobin’s.
