泰國南部橡膠生產效率差異之研究-三階段資料包絡分析方法應用

Efficiency Measurement Differences of Rubber Production in Southern Thailand: An Application of Three–Stage DEA Approach

摘要


橡膠自1900年以來在泰國已生產了數十年,泰國是目前世界上最大的天然橡膠生產國,橡膠生產對泰國經濟和勞動力密集有很強的代表性。泰國已經經歷了政策性的發展,以提高橡膠生產。這些政策實施含蓋全國境內,特別是在南部地區。這項研究的目的是測量評估泰國南部14個城市的橡膠生產技術效能研究,使用三階段資料包絡分析方法(3SDEA)排除環境因素及Malmquist生產力指數(MPI)評估,測量2010年至2012年橡膠生產效率和估計生產率趨勢的變化。基於實際模型評估結果得出,在2012年,泰國南部橡膠產量具良好的效率、技術及生產率提升。另Malmquist DEA模型顯示,在2010至2012年生產率指標,包括效率、技術改進及生產率增長均呈現逐年下降的趨勢,而本研究亦發現環境因素仍是泰國南部一個技術效能的重要變數因子。

The rubber production has been taking place in Thailand for many decades since 1900. Thailand is currently the world’s largest natural rubber producer. The country also has a strong of rubber production that represents a significant portion of the Thai economy and intensive labor force. Thailand has experienced a development of policies oriented to improving the rubber production. These policies have been implemented throughout the country, particularly at the Southern region. The purpose of this study is to measure the technical efficiency of rubber production of 14 cities, located in Southern Thailand by using a three–stage data envelopment analysis (DEA) model that was studied to remove environmental factors. Moreover, Malmquist productivity index (MPI) was used to measure the changes of rubber production efficiency and estimates of the rubber productivity trend from 2010 to 2012. Based on the estimated results of the proposed panel model with the adjusted inputs, in general it can be concluded that the rubber production in Southern Thailand had good performance efficiency improvement, technical progress, and productivity growth in 2012. The III Malmquist DEA model shows that for the rubber production, the productivity indicators including efficiency and technical change and productivity growth are in general showed a declining trend from 2010 to 2012. The study, however, found that the environmental factor was still a significant variable to explain technical efficiency in Southern Thailand.
