符號是表達畫作中視覺表現、意義描述、引導作用、隱喻象徵的結構元素。紀宗仁在藝術界已有數十年的畫齡,並在國內繪畫界有相當的名聲及市場地位,以這樣的一位畫家,通常會依循受到市場肯定的這一創作理念,持續進行創作,但紀宗仁卻在2012年間,直接放棄舊有的創作觀念和風格,開創一種新的創作方式及視覺效果,成為一位當代的畫家,這樣的舉動無論是在畫壇的評價或是市場的經營方向,都有著不小的風險。紀宗仁的當代畫作中建立了不少新的繪畫特性,包括最具代表性的「蟲」符號,以及強烈的敘事功能,本研究以Umberto Eco的符號學為主要學理,在文本意圖的客觀架構下,整理出紀宗仁畫作之符號意、蟲符號探討、社會功能性探討,以及這項轉變的參考價值。
Signs are the fundamental elements to express visual appearance, meanings, directions, and metaphors in a piece of art work. The artist Tsung-Jen Chi has more than several decades' experience in different types of paintings including batik, watercolor, pastel, and oil color. He is very famous and has earned an important position in both Taiwan painting community and local art market. Thus, Chi can follow what he had been affirmed by the art market to continue his past successful paintings as most other artists will normally do. But Chi gave up his past familiar style and concept of art paintings, and created a totally new creative one in method and visual effect in 2012 as a contemporary artist.Such move had certain risk in the critique of gallery and acceptance of the art market. Tsung-Jen Chi's new contemporary art work had established a lot of new painting elements. The most famous sign is so called "katydid". As well as the narrative function in painting. This research uses semiotics of Umberto Eco as the main methodology. The intention of this article is to analyze and illustrate the expression about katydid sign, social function. And reference value about this evolution.
