設計展覽在台灣美術館的發展與演進

摘要


當故宮與知名設計品牌Alessi合作,美術館展出流行時尚Vivienne Westwood的單品,所有過去認為不可能相遇的平行線,現在卻逐漸的交錯中。傳統美術館所展示的作品,以雕塑、版畫、繪畫等純藝術創作為主,但近年來,我們可以看見許多以美為基礎,與相關類別所衍生的展覽,像是結合設計、文化、時尚、品牌、數位,或是跨領域間的設計作品,相互之間透過完美的交融,營造出自然卻又令人驚艷的效果,而這種不同領域互相汲取養分的方式,也正逐漸的成為一種展覽的新風格。美術館也排除以類型篩選展覽的方式,以審美的眼光,觀看這些設計,基於美的影響力與設計間的共通性,美術館的展覽,逐漸突破過往陳舊的刻版印象,以符合時下潮流設計的方式展現出來。 反觀過去美術館為宣揚政策推動,或是單純為設計出美觀產品的設計競賽展,對照今日多元化的展覽,這兩者之間的落差,也指向著美術館新時代的來臨。而使這些事實生成背後的因素,以及主導整體歷史背景及過程的真相,相信對於美術館出現設計展,會有許多合理化的解釋。 因此本研究由國外至國內的歷史研究,先由探討藝術與設計結合的根源開始,回溯國外在過去,是經由哪些個人或團體的主張以及論點,促使並化解藝術與設計間的藩籬。接續以國外現今美術館與設計博物館為案例,分析各美術館對於現今設計展覽的處理方式,以及面對藝術與設計展覽間,如何取得平衡的態度。 回過頭來觀看台灣對於設計與藝術的區塊,從日治時期的博覽會,延伸至台灣光復後的設計展覽雛形,進行概略性的探討,以歸納出當時設計展覽的型態為何。探究完國外以及日治時期與台灣光復後的設計展,便以美術館為設計展覽的研究範疇,以編年的方式自1983年第一個出現於美術館的設計展覽開始,歸納出三個重要時間點,並將2008年為界線劃分。美術館則選定以北中南各為代表的台北市立美術館、國立台灣美術館、高雄市立美術館另外加上台北當代藝術館,這四個美術館為研究案例。針對這四個館內的展覽進行設計展覽的分類,並就展覽的型態以及演變過程予以分析並深入探討。 進而統合設計與藝術合併的歷史過程,與國外美術館所帶給我們的參考學習之處,以及台灣美術館的設計展發展,進行整體交叉分析,統整出設計展覽的演變趨勢,並推論未來美術館的發展走向,提出相關的發展建議。最後從中得到經由國外美術館以及歷史上的影響,國內產官學業界在尋求轉型中,發現設計的重要性,因此在整體層面上都有助於全民美學的提升。不同產業間與領域間對設計的認同,也讓展覽間跨領域的合作頻繁產生,種種的因素讓我們發現美術館內的展覽,其實是反映了社會環境以及時代潮流美學的需求,更成為一種展覽發展的導向。

Cooperation between the National Palace Museum and the famous designing brand Alessi, and the fashion designer Vivienne Westwood’s single products exhibited in an art Museum embody two traditionally unimaginable unconnected parallels to be gradually merged. In contrast to pure artworks displayed in a conventional art Museum such as sculpture, engraving, and painting, more and more aesthetics-based exhibitions which are derived from relevant categories have been observed in recent years, for instance, some works with designs, cultures, fashion, brands, digital techniques, or cross-domain creation integrated for development of both natural but amazing effects via mutually perfect blending and a new style exhibition through the communication of aesthetic essence from distinct fields. In view of art galleries preferring both aesthetic appreciation and the universality between aesthetic power and design to confining exhibitive categories, a new era of art galleries has come when art galleries’ exhibits are displayed with a model matching current design fashion in place of the past obsolete monotonous images. Against this background, we study how art is integrated with design in foreign countries and then Taiwan. First, those foreign individuals’ or groups’ past arguments and concepts breaking and reconciling the boundary between art and design are investigated. Next, we analyze how art galleries arrange current design exhibitions and balance art and design exhibitions by taking existing examples of art galleries and design museums in foreign countries. In the next sections, we explore the relationship between design and art in Taiwan and conclude some previous types with respect to design exhibitions by generally reviewing expositions in the Japanese Colonial Period and embryo design exhibitions after the restoration of Taiwan. With the discussions for design exhibitions in foreign countries and in Taiwan (Japanese Colonial Period and restoration of Taiwan) completed, three important stages in the chronicle of art galleries’ design exhibitions in Taiwan from 1983 when the first design exhibition was held in the art Museum to 2008 are induced. The objects studied here are three representative art galleries such as Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts distributed in Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan and the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei. The topics deeply investigated and analyzed in this study are classification, type, and transition of design exhibitions at these four art galleries. Finally, we make comprehensive cross-over analyses for the procedure of integrating design and art in the history, taking foreign art galleries’ as our references, and the development of design exhibitions in Taiwan’s art galleries, and conclude the trend with respect to evolution of design exhibitions and some recommendations about art galleries’ future development and direction.
