多功能休閒圖書館設計

圖書館發展有如人類文明演進的縮影，從軍國政治到人文哲理、由教義宣揚到科學發展，做為知識文化保存場所，十九世紀以前圖書館建築越加蓬勃，亦代表人類文明在科學及人文層面的不斷演進。二十世紀電子資源技術誕生對圖書館事業有著不小衝擊，隨著電腦技術進步及相關硬體設備普及，甚至曾經出現圖書館在未來將消失殆盡的預言。然而近三十年來，圖書館並未因科技日新月異而滅絕，反而世界各大城市興起一股前所未有的公共圖書館興建熱潮，圖書館建築成為都市文化的象徵，具備更高的人文層次。以臺中圖書館舊址，現精武書庫所在為基地，延續過往圖書館共同記憶，並將多功能教室、電子設備區、會議室等符合圖書館角色發展的多元活動空間加入圖書館中，將過去圖書館既有嚴肅閱讀空間以輕鬆舒服的方式重新排列，營造適合休閒化閱讀行為的場所氛圍，使本案圖書館成為當地人文活動群聚地與文化中心。

The development of library is like a microcosm of the evolution of human civilization. Library is a storage house for knowledge ranging from military, politics to humanistic philosophy, and from preached doctrines to scientific development. Prior to the 19th century, library buildings had been massively constructed, reflecting the continuous evolution of human civilization in sciences and humanities. The emergence of electronic resources technology in the 20th century has significant impact on librarianship. With the advancement and prevalence in computer technology and hardware equipment, it is even predicted that library will vanish in the future. However, in recent 30 years, library has not become extinct under the technological advancement, but there is a trend of construction of public libraries worldwide. Library buildings have become a symbol of urban culture and enjoy a higher cultural level. On the site of the former Taichung Library, the current Jingwu Library extends the collective memory of the libraries and include the diversified activity spaces, such as the multifunctional classroom, electronic equipment area, and meeting room, into the library. Meanwhile, the traditional reading space of the library has been rearranged into a casual and comfortable environment to create an atmosphere suitable for recreational reading. The library reviewed in this study has become the local cultural center for humanistic activities.
