Malaysia is a country that comprises three major races i.e Malay, Chinese and Indians and a small number of indigenous people. Each race has its own different cultural characteristics, such as religion, language, education, customs and festivities. Under the influence of these multiple races, a unique Baba Nyonya culture emerged. The Baba Nyonya culture inherited the Chinese culture and at the same time intergrated the Malay culture especially depicted in their clothing, jewellery patterns and cuisine. This is where we see the mixture of two racial elements. The Western design style can also be seen due to the influence of British rule. With the independence of Malaysia and the social environment changes, Baba Nyonya culture was heavily impacted, gradually declined, and was eventually forgotten. Scholars believe that cultural genes are hidden in the appearance of various entities or phenomena. Cultural mark in the conscious or unconscious appearance, through the appearance of modeling (totem) or the use of behavior (ritual) thus capturing the Baba Nyonya culture elements and the evolution of cultural genes. Through the impact of external stimuli, it achieved the continuation and inheritance function. This research uses the Baba Nyonya's clothing and jewellery to capture the cultural elements combining with the Malaysian tin technology to finally design the Baba Nyonya tin products in the hope of relaunching people's awareness and knowledge of the Baba Nyonya culture. Keywords: Baba Nyonya Culture, Cultural Gene, Malaysian Tin Art , Tinware
