The purpose of this study was to investigate the oral health condition and treatment needs of volunteer residents in Alien Area. Through the media advertisement, there are 461 volunteer residents received oral examination. The response rate is 2.15%. Excluding the incomplete data and fully edentulous subjects, finally there are 410 subjects in this study including 214 males and 196 females with the average ages of 55.31 and 54.33 respectively. Oral examination was carried out in the health station with a dental unit. Dental caries was assessed using WHO standards and the Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Need (CPITN) was used in assessing gingival and periodontal health condition. Data were collected and analyzed by a computer using SAS software. The major results are as follow: 1. The D, M, F, and DMFT score in male are 0.90 ± 1.29, 7.64±7.67, 5.62±5.66 and 14.16±9.49 respectively. The D, M, F, and DMFT score in female are 0.88±1.37, 9.74±8.43, 7.40±5.43 and 18.03±8.78 respectively. 2. It clearly shows that the M, F, and DMFT score is higher in female than that in male (p <0.05). 3. Regarding periodontal condition and treatment needs, the older the subjects, the higher CPITN score they have. The periodontal treatment needs does increase as age increases. However, there is no statistical significant difference between male and female (p=0.19). From this study of volunteer residents in Alein Area, the female subjects have higher M, F, and DMFT score and the male subjects have higher periodontal treatment need, however, there is no statistically significant difference.
