The Situational Awareness of In-flight Icing for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

摘要


無人飛行載具在部署期間,很難避免不良天候狀況的影響,而且這種大氣因素往往支配著無人飛行載具的存活能力。為能使地面操控人員有足夠的狀況警覺,研究無人飛行載具在危害天候的響應是必要的。在無人飛行載具可能遭遇的危害天候中,飛行積冰在初期難以被發現,原因是冰須要時間累積才會造成危害,但飛行積冰很容易造成失去控制的嚴重後果。分析飛行積冰的非穩態氣動力特徵可助於地面控制人員有足夠的狀況警覺,並採取適當的應對措施。本文將以案例闡述特定無人飛機飛行積冰危害的影響,評估性能衰退及飛行安定性。飛行積冰危害辨識的概念被使用來做為機翼發生嚴重積冰的指標亦呈現於本文。

During the deployment of UAV, it is very difficult to avoid the influence of adverse weather conditions, and these atmospheric factors usually dominate the survivability of UAV. In order to have sufficient situational awareness for ground operators, the study of response of UAV to weather hazards is essential. The in-flight icing among all possible hazardous weathers for the UAV is hard to be discovered at the beginning, because the hazards due to ice accretions need time. A serious consequence of in-flight icing is quite easy to cause loss of control. The analyses of unsteady aerodynamic characteristics for in-flight icing can support the ground operators to have sufficient situational awareness and with the proper response in remote operation. An example for the effects of in-flight icing hazards on a specific UAV is illustrated in this paper to evaluate the performance degradation and variations in flight stability. The concept for the identification of in-flight icing hazards to be used as an indicator of the occurrence of significant icing on the wing is also presented in this paper.
