Due mainly to the unusual functions of historical periodicals in spreading the new concepts of history, this study will focus on the topics and content of papers in history journals published by research institutions and government during this period. The journals including: Bulletin of the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, Bulletin of the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Newsletter of Taiwan History Field Research, The National Palace Museum Quarterly, Ch'ing Documents at the National Palace Museum, Quarterly Journal of Bibliography, The National Palace Museum Research Quarterly, The National Palace Museum Monthly of Chinese Art, The Academia Historical Journal, Wen hien, report of historico-geographical syudies of Taiwan, Taiwan Wen Hsien, Modern China. I shall conduct quantitative, and qualitative as well, analyses in my research, so that we can have a broader, deeper understanding of historical trends of historiography in Taiwan.
