Tug of war games have long been popular in Taiwan. This sport, nevertheless, has been developed from an activity with multi-players and weight advantage into today's eight-puller tug of war competitions. With the formulation and amendment of the rules, tug of war has become a technical international sport and competition. There have been some researches on the actions of the start, offense, and defense of tug of war. Some other researchers focus on training of the players. These researches, however, are somewhat fragmentary. Though concentrating on field analysis and literature review, this study aims to analyze movement techniques of tug of war, which includes preparation, starting and battle. The ultimate goal is to organize united characteristics of the sport for future research and training.
