In the Qianlong and Jiaqing Reign of Qing Dynasty, textual criticism was popular. The research direction for the study of Yi inclined to factual evidence, thus Song learning was depreciated and Han learning was promoted. Hui Dong was one of the advocates. Qian Daxin mentioned that, "Han learning had been stopped for over 1500 years, but it was revived by the time of Hui Dong." This statement manifests the key position of Hui Dong in the revival of Han learning. Based on this statement, this paper explores Hui Dong's study of Yi, especially on his Yi Han Xue. The focuses of this paper include: 1) to observe the formation of Hui Dong's study of Yi; 2) to discuss his observation and exploration on the study of Yi by Meng Xi, Yu Fan, Jing Fang, Zheng Xuan, and Xun Shuang, while centering on his Yi Han Xue, and his argument on Hetu and Luoshu; 4) to discuss the deficiencies, limitations, features, and values of Yi Han Xue. Hui Dong was the first person who devoted to the study of Yi in Han learning since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. His profoundness in the study is manifested in Yi Han Xue. Although this book contains redundancy and omission, its significant influence on the development of the study of Yi at the time of Hui Dong was self-evident.
