螢幕尺寸對閱讀績效與視覺疲勞之影響

Effects Screen Size on Reading Performance and Visual Fatigue

摘要


由於技術的進步與應用的多元化,顯示螢幕的類型與尺寸也愈趨多樣化,從一般桌上型個人電腦搭配大小不等的尺寸,到個人數位助理掌上型電腦的小尺寸螢幕,螢幕尺寸大小各異,使用時機及顯示方式亦隨使用者需要與喜好而有所差別。本研究主要在探討螢幕尺寸對視覺作業績效與視覺疲勞之影響,同時探討閱讀時間的效果,研究以19吋LCD顯示器外加13,15及17吋紙板外框構成四種不同大小尺寸之螢幕,要求受試者從事文字閱讀作業。實驗結果發現,在呈現固定數目之文字下,螢幕尺寸確實會影響文字閱讀績效,但也視覺疲勞上無顯著差異,15吋和17吋的螢幕尺寸有較佳的閱讀正確率。另外,閱讀時間對閱讀正確率也有影響,不過未隨閱買賣時間之增加而增加,但閱讀時間愈長,疲勞程度愈大。

The screen of displays is one of the most important interfaces to communicate the system with users. A suitable screen could reduce users' visual loading and fatigue. For the improvement of technology and diversification of application, the type and size of screens also varies. From the personal computer to the palm handheld computer, the size of screens diversifies greatly. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of screen size on reading performance and visual fatigue. A reading task was designed to explore the effects. Four different sizes of LCD screen (13, 15, 17, and 19 inch) were used in the study. The results showed that the size of screen affected reading performance significantly. The screens of 15 and 17 inch were better than 13 and 19 inch. The effect of length of reading time was not significant on reading performance, but the subjects felt more fatiguing while the length of reading time increased
