學校運動會與教育神聖性的開顯

School Sports Day and the Manifestation of the Sacred in Education

摘要


本文主要探討教育的神聖意涵,並且以學校運動會作為教育「顯聖」的媒介。內容分成三大部分,首先從西方神話與儒家天道人性論,來確立人性的神聖本質;其次由人性發展與教育的密切關係,來衍釋教育的神聖性;最後,從教育的立場與運動的特質,開掘學校運動會的神聖蘊義,而且通過學校運動會的儀式運用、禮樂教化與環境設計,來顯揚教育的神聖性。本文認為,在當前現實功利的世俗潮流中,透過學校運動會來彰顯教育的神聖性,不僅喚起師生對教育崇高意義的覺知,也深具時代的意義。

The study aims to explore the holiness of education and manifests the sacred in education by means of school sports day. It seems that there is a divine seed in human nature, because man can be aware of the sacred world. Humans are the only one of animals that would raise altars and images of gods. According to Confucianism, everyone can be virtuous because the essence of human nature is holy. The aim of education is to develop the divine attribute and help everyone become a moral being. This is the reason why the essence of education is also sacred. Manifesting the sacred in education is important, especially in modern times. The so-called spiritual or religious attitude exists in sports and games. If we can explore the holy essence of school sports day deeply, the results of moral education in school will be enhanced at the same time. The holiness of education might be brought into our awareness.
