The importance of coaching philosophy is widely recognized because a consisted coaches' behavior can create a trust coach-athlete relationship. This paper aims to narrate the story of the development of a rookie basketball coach's own coaching philosophy. In this paper, following the five steps of developing coaching philosophy (i.e. identify which coaching story is most important to you, learn from your own experiences, what is your coaching style, discover your coaching philosophy, and keep it visible and alive), it presented the story written by a Taiwan University Basketball Association [UBA] Division II coach who expressed his personal coaching philosophy in a way that is firmly rooted in his coaching practice events of injury, dropout, time-out, roster, and game strategy. Finally, this paper concludes the meaning of "coaches as training partners."
