In this article we reviewed the disruptive development of fiber-optic technology from the past to now, including the reduction of optical fiber loss, the fabrication and application of fiber gratings, and the recent development of fiber lasers. After reading the paper, hopefully the readers can have a clearer view about the technological trends and the technical levels of the present fiber-optic related technology.
