Within "Bie gua" 別卦of Warring States Bamboo Slips Collected by Tsinghua University (Volume 4) 清華大學藏戰國竹簡(肆), there are seven extant bamboo slips and altogether forty-nine gua, or hexagram, names卦名. Previous studies have already considered the relationship between "Bie gua" and the Book of Changes in regards to phonetic loan characters. However, Cheng Hao 程浩 and Cai Feizhou蔡飛舟within "Qinghua jian 'Bie gua' guaming bu shi" 清華簡<別卦>卦名補釋 and "Qinghua jian 'Bie gua' jie gu" 清華簡<別卦>解詁, respectively, have indicated extended meanings beyond these loan meanings. Using this line of thinking as basis, this article revises our understanding of the "qin/xian" 欽⁄咸gua, "mao/sui" 覒⁄隨 gua, and "jiang/jian" 將⁄漸gua, as well as arguing that the "duo/dun" 敓⁄遯 gua, "gu/gu(古夜)⁄蠱gua, and "lu/lü"(辶旅)⁄旅gua are also extended meanings.
