The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of chemotherapy nursing guideline program for patients with acute myelogenous leukemia. The two-group quasi-experimental research design was adapted for this study. Twenty nurses working in a hematology ward of a medical center were selected by random sampling. Ten nurses were assigned to an experimental group, in which they received a group lecture training program, and ten nurses without training were assigned to a control group. Data were collected before and after the training program. The results indicated that there was no significant difference between the two groups in the accuracy of total nursing intervention. But there was a significant difference between two groups in the accuracy of nursing intervention of mucotitis (p<.05). Subjects who received the training program had better improvement in skills managing mucotitis than those without training.
