This study was to estimate the nursing competency of newly employed nurses. The sample size was 78 nurses. Results: self evaluation and evaluation from head nurses, mean scores for clinical techniques, administration skills, teaching and research skills were 3.56, 3.48, 2.8, 3.27, 3.25, and 2.35. There was a significant difference in technical ability and nursing competency. The results highlighted the nursing competency of newly employed nurses for directors of hospitals in order to improve their professional ability of nursing through specialized training programs.
