The horizontal zone melting and Czochralski technique were employed for the preparation of highly textured rods of the Bi-2212 phase. The nominal composition of the samples was chosen on a basis of determined phase diagram cuts in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-(0) pseudoquaternary system. It was found that the Bi-2212 phase formation depends on both the concentrations of Bi ions in the precursor and the used method and relevant mechanisms of the solidification were proposed.
