CARBON FOOTPRINT PRODUCTION PHASES OF TWO DIFFERENT BICYCLE-CHAIN SIZES FROM TAIWAN

摘要

This study is original and verified, Until now the appropriate approach for the Bicycle-chain manufacturing industry has received little discussion. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of two different Bicycle-chain types is investigated. The database and practical results published in this paper can be used as a reference for academics and business circles. The LCA application in this research uses SimaPro7.3 software and the IPCC 2007 GWP-100a methodology to simulate thecarbon footprint of each chain production process.Twelve months of data were collected, using the primary activity data from Bicycle-chain plants and three-engaging suppliers in Southern Taiwan to analyze the carbon emission footprint in producing different types of Bicycle-chains. The bicycle-chain product carbon footprint was determined using the functional unit X10SL single piece at 613 gCO_2e equivalent. A second product carbon footprint was determined using the functional unit X11SL single piece at 589 gCO_2e equivalent. The important investigation results are as follows: (1) Verified with BV international certification. (2) The data meets the Monte Carlo analysis requirements. (3) This important practical case study examined one major central factory and three engaging suppliers to check the local activity database. (4) The X10SL chain-weighs 11 g more than the X11SL and X10SL carbon footprint emissions 24 gCO_2e were greater than X11SL. (5) TEEMA empowered a carbon footprint logo for certification, for use for international marketing. (6) Regression testing correlation the recycle steel rolled can be applied to waste steel rolled management and throughput management analysis.
