An Enhanced Media-Independent Pre-Authentication Framework for Preventing Packet Loss

摘要


媒體無關之預先認證平台(Media-independent Pre-Authentication;MPA)主要是應用在行動節點(mobile node;MN)準備換手(handover)時,先進行網路第三層的認證(authentication),並完成與通訊對方(corresponding node;CN)的聯結更新(binding update),之後再依網路訊號狀況執行第二層換手。但是,如果第三層binding update還未完成,卻因訊號急遽衰減必須進行第二層換手,就會造成傳輸封包的遺失。在本論文中,我們提出一個強化MPA換手執行(handover execution)機制的運作平台eMPA (enhanced MPA),可避免封包傳送遺失,並且減少封包遞送所產生的延遲。

Media-Independent Pre-Authentication (MPA) is used when a mobile node (the MN) gets ready to perform a handover. It will execute IP layer authentication, complete the biding update with corresponding node, and then perform a handover at the link layer according to the network signal strength. However, the packets transmitted to the MN may be lost if a link layer handover occurs due to the link going down before the MN completes the binding update. In this paper, we design a framework called enhanced MPA (eMPA), it can prevent packet loss during the handover, and reduce packet transmission delay.
