Is There a "92-Consensus" between Taiwan and China? - Just a Lie

摘要

Can the so-called "92-Consensus" be the guarantee of the peace of the "Cross-Strait Relationship"? The answer can only be a definite "No"! This comment first points out that in 1992 there was no new agreement, i.e., the "92-Consensus" between the KMT and the CCP. Then it explains how and why the fiction of the so-called 92-Consensus was created. Later on the CCP has cleverly used this so-called 92-Consensus as slogan without concrete content. Nevertheless, the attitude of the CCP has been changing. Whenever the CCP wants to exert more pressure on the KMT, it interprets the so-called 92-Consensus more according to the doctrine of the CCP and hence makes the KMT embarrassed. The 92-Consensus cannot serve as the guarantee of Taiwan's security. On the contrary, the interaction between Taiwan and China operated under the precondition of the 92-Consensus will just lead to an easy annexation of Taiwan.
