Thermal Effects of Ultrasound Application to Muscles in Rabbits

摘要


目的:本研究是一項活體的動物實驗,主要是探討在血流的因素影響之下超音波治療的熱效應。方法:方法是以連續的及脈衝的超音波作用在兔子的大腿上,其中所採用的參數是仿傚臨床上常用的組合:頻率= 1 MHZ;強度= 1.5 W/cm2 ;時間=7 min;脈衝波的週期=25% ,並且測量在表皮和肌肉層兩處之溫度。結果:實驗結果顯示即使在血流的影響下,連續性超音波的作用可使表皮與肌肉兩處之溫度皆有顯著的上升,而脈衝性超音波則沒有產生顯著的溫度改變。同時,觀察到不論是表皮或深層肌肉在超音波作用一分鐘後會有明顯的溫度下降,可能是導電介質的冷卻效應所致。連續性超音波的作用可使溫度上升至39.2℃,已經很接近臨床的有效治療溫度,然而此上升之溫度並未有達到一個高原期。結論:因此,為使臨床的應用上能達到的更好的治療效益,建議在治療的開端時使用比實際治療稍強的強度及增加治療的時間。

Purposes: This is a study of ultrasonic effects in vivo animal model aiming at investigating its thermal benefits in muscle tissue which is rich in blood supply. Methods: Both continuous and pulsed ultrasonic diathermy (US) were applied on rabbits' thighs with therapeutic parameter (frequency = 1 MHz, intensity = 1.5 W/CM2, duration = 7 min, duty cycle (pulsed) = 25 %). Tissue temperatures were measured at skin and muscle. Results: The results showed significant temperature increase with continuous US but not with pulsed US. Furthermore, the temperatures dropped in the first minute during pulsed US may be due to the cooling effect of the transmission gel. The temperature increase was close to the therapeutic effective level with continuous US. Yet, the temperature rise has not reached a plateau at the end of us application. Conclusion: An initial greater intensity and a longer duration are recommended for better thermal benefits during US application in muscle tissue.
