不同身體活動量男性老年人執行視覺空間注意力之認知電生理表現

Cognitive Electrophysiological Performance on Visuospatial Attention for Male Elderly with Different Physical Activity Levels

摘要


本研究旨在以認知電生理訊號探討有/無規律從事軟式網球運動之高/低身體活動量的男性老年人執行Posner視覺空間注意力作業情境上的差異。20位高身體活動量(規律從事軟式網球運動)與20位低身體活動量之60 ~ 69歲男性老年人利用腳踏板踩踏執行外因性視覺空間注意力作業測試時,同步收錄行為表現及大腦事件相關電位的電生理數據。結果發現,高身體活動量組與低身體活動量組在反應時間、錯誤率、N1與N2成分之振幅與潛時、P3潛時皆無顯著差異。不過,高身體活動量組比低身體活動量組有較大的P3振幅。而雖然高、低身體活動量之男性老年人之行為表現上未達顯著差異,但在認知電生理表現上,高身體活動量之男性老年人在枕葉及頂葉皮質區的P3成分活化程度較大。因此,本研究結論:相較於低身體活動量組,規律從事軟式網球運動之高身體活動量老年人在執行視覺空間注意力認知作業時,有較佳的注意力資源投注表現。

The purpose of this present study was to investigate the event-related potentials (ERPs) measuring in male elderly with different levels of physical activity when performing Posner visuospatial attention task. Twenty high-physically active (engaging soft tennis) and twenty low-physically active age-matched elderly subjects were recruited from senior community centers. All participants were tested on visuospatial attention paradigm and responded to laterally presented reaction signals via stepping pedals with their bilateral lower limbs as quickly as possible when performing the task. Simultaneously brain ERPs was recorded. The RT, error rate, N1, N2 components and P3 latency, were not significantly different between high and low-physically active groups. However, P3 amplitude was higher in high-physically active group than low-physically active group. Although behavioral results did not show significant difference between high and low-physically active groups, the electrophysiological signals revealed better brain activation performance (P3 amplitude) on the occipital and parietal lobes in high-active elderly. Our findings suggested that male elderly with high-physical activity exhibited better attentional abilities compared to low-active counterparts, when performing visuo-spatial attention task.
